Senior Policy Officer, Policy and Insights

The Role

Contribute to the design and delivery of outcomes-focused policy and research aligned to departmental priorities, with a focus on Creative Victoria's strategic agenda. You'll also collaborate with Creative Victoria's First Peoples team to support self-determined engagement and ensure First Peoples perspectives are embedded in policy thinking. The role supports work planning, contributes to team capability, and delivers high-quality advice and analysis.

A Senior Policy Officer plays a role in developing, implementing, and managing policies which contribute to the department's objectives. They research, analyse, and provide advice on policy matters, often with a focus on strategic planning and stakeholder engagement, and monitor the implementation of policies, evaluate their effectiveness, and make recommendations for improvements. Their role may involve:

  • conducting research, analysing complex policy issues, and identifying emerging trends to inform policy development.
  • developing policy options, drafting policy documents, and contributing to the creation of new policies or the modification of existing ones.
  • building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders; providing them with expert policy advice and gathering input to ensure effective policy implementation.

Evaluation Officer

The Role

Reporting to the Senior Data and Evaluation Officer, the Evaluation Officer is a key role that supports the program lifecycle by tracking evaluations, developing monitoring and evaluation plans and coordinating data for measurement frameworks that effectively communicate the social, cultural and economic impact of the creative industries. The role also works with Creative Victoria's First Peoples team to support self-determined engagement and help embed First Peoples perspectives in the work of Creative Victoria.

Main accountabilities:

  • Innovative thinking is an inherent feature of the job

Senior Advisor, Industry Development

The Role

You'll play a key role in delivering initiatives that support Victoria's creative industries—helping to identify emerging trends, contribute to policy development, and promote inclusive growth. Working closely with the policy team, you'll support the co-design and delivery of strategic projects that align with government priorities and foster sector development.

You'll engage with industry stakeholders, advisory groups and partners across government to build collaborative relationships and explore opportunities to grow demand for creative content and experiences. You'll also work with Creative Victoria's First Peoples team to support self-determined engagement and help embed First Peoples perspectives in policy and program design.

By actively contributing to a positive team culture and cross-sector collaboration, you'll help strengthen Victoria's reputation as a global leader in creative industries.

A Senior Adviser provides expert guidance, often strategic, to stakeholders, contributing to their growth and decision-making. They analyse complex issues, offer recommendations, and may lead or manage teams, depending on the specific role.  Their role may involve:

  • offering strategic advice to stakeholders to help them make informed decisions and navigate complex challenges.
  • analysing data, trends, and information to identify opportunities, risks, and potential solutions.
  • identifying and resolving complex issues, often involving multiple stakeholders and high levels of uncertainty.
  • effectively communicating their findings and recommendations to senior management, stakeholders, and teams, often requiring strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • demonstrating leadership and management capabilities including mentoring staff and leading teams.
  • supporting decision-making processes, ensuring that leaders have the information and insights they need to make sound choices.

Senior Financial Analyst

The Role

The Senior Financial Analyst provides high-level financial expertise and analytical support across strategic and operational initiatives. As a key advisor within the Operations and Business Improvement team, this role supports decision-making through rigorous financial modelling, data analysis, and performance reporting. It contributes to the delivery of fiscally responsible, evidence-based outcomes aligned with government priorities.

Main accountabilities:

  • Contributes to strategic business planning Interprets and applies business plans and policies in own area of responsibility and provides advice to others on implementation issues.
  • Accountable for work organisation, the allocation of resources within and the outputs required of the work area.
  • Provides specialist professional services or advice.
