Join Victoria’s first Creative Industries Children and Young People Advisory Council

Expressions of interest are now open to joinVictoria’s first Creative Industries Children and Young People Advisory Council.

Children and young people play a vital role in the creative industries as audiences, participants, students and early career creators – and they are Victoria’s creative future.

The Children and Young People Advisory Council is an action of the Victorian Government’s Creative State 2028 strategy. Council members will share their ideas and experiences to help shape Victorian Government decisions about the creative industries.

We are looking for:

  • young Victorians aged 16-25 with a connection to the creative sector, or
  • Applicants can be involved in any creative field including music, film, digital games, design, fashion, writing, performing arts, visual arts and more. Applicants do not require professional experience. They could be studying, volunteering, hobbyists or keen audiences and players.

Victorian based individuals with experience working with, and for, children and young people in creative, policy or academic settings within the last 5 years.

The 10-person Council will meet online or in-person up to 4 times a year. Some activity between meetings may also be required. Members will be paid for their time in line with the Victorian Government’s Board Appointment and Remuneration Guidelines.

Guidelines providing further detail about the Council, the role of members and the expression of interest process and assessment, are now available.

About the expression of interest process:

To express your interest, fill out the online form. The form asks you to outline your interests and experience. It also includes a series of free text questions inviting you to share your ideas about the current challenges facing children and young people in the creative sector or opportunities that could help more young people take part in creative experiences or forge careers.  You can also choose to provide your responses in alternative formats, including video.

If you are under 18, permission from your parent or guardian must be provided.

Timeline

Expressions of interest close at 3pm Sunday, 1 November 2026.

Successful applicants will be contacted in early 2027.
