The Victorian Government is investing in local artists and creative workers through the latest round of the Creative Projects Fund, supporting them to bring their ideas, events and projects to life – and to Victorian audiences.
More than $2.9 million in grants were announced to support 117 diverse projects across dance, literature, visual arts, performance, festivals, design, music and more, and creating more than 2,000 job opportunities for Victorian artists and creative workers.
The Creative Projects Fund supports Victorian creatives, collectives and small organisations to develop and present new works, undertake professional development opportunities, reach new audiences and markets, and bring innovative projects to life.
This latest round includes a record number of recipients based in regional and outer metropolitan Victoria – 43% of the supported projects. It’s one way the government is delivering on its Creative State 2028 commitment to grow the creative industries in regional and outer metropolitan communities, and support the development of new creative works in these areas.
Funded projects include Handle with Care, a new work by inclusive physical theatre ensemble (It’s No) Drama; an immersive arts experience for preschool children in regional Victoria by theatre-maker Jennifer Tran; and a statewide tour of Ocker, a free roving street performance by Na Djinang Circus.
First Nations-led music and arts festival Sugarbush Open Air will present an expanded 2027 program with live performances and a visual art exhibition, and community-focused street dance organisation Cypher Culture will present On&On Festival 2027, a multi-day event celebrating street dance.
Grants will also support The Youth Junction to deliver an eight-week photography and storytelling program for young people; Out Hear, a disability-led sound and music workshop and performance series; and Cinespace Writers Room Stage 2, a professional development program for emerging writers, directors and creatives.
