Applications open – Music Works Grants

Applications are now open for the 2025 Music Works Grants program which provides grants to Victorian contemporary musicians, bands, music workers and micro to small organisations at all career stages and working across all genres.

Music Works Grants support a diverse range of music projects and professional development activities including:

  • Recording and releasing new music
  • Developing and innovating your practice
  • Attending national and international conferences and events
  • Undertaking national and international tours
  • National and international PR and marketing
  • Film and game soundtrack development, and
  • Cross-industry collaborations.

Applications are now open for two focus areas:

  • Uncovering Talent, aimed at new and emerging artists who have not received Creative Victoria grants*. This focus area offers grants of $5,000, and
  • Music Works Projects, to support music industry professionals to undertake projects that encourage innovation, create new works and reach new markets.This focus area provides grants of between $10,000 and $20,000.

This round will support projects and activities that start from 1 July 2025.

Music Works has supported the likes of Amyl and the Sniffers, Jen Cloher, The Teskey Brothers and Julia Jacklin take their careers from Victoria to the world stage. Read more about previous recipients here.

Note: This round of Music Works Grants will not support live music venues to stage paid gigs. Venue operators can apply for support through 10,000 Gigs: The Victorian Gig Fund which will open for applications on 30 January 2025.

Can you still apply if you were a direct recipient of a grant from the following COVID support programs: Sustaining Creative Workers Initiative, Creative Workers Fund, Victorian Music Industry Recovery Program, Live Music Venues Support Program.
