Touring Victoria provides support for Victorian arts and cultural organisations or professional creative practitioners to tour a professional production, performance, exhibition or program to, or from, regional and outer-metropolitan Victoria.
The Touring Victoria program has been updated to respond to the impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

- The term regional refers to the 48 Victorian local government areas classified as regional by the Victorian State Government. Find the list of these local government areas.
- The term outer metropolitan includes the following local government areas: Brimbank City Council, Cardinia Shire Council, City of Casey, City of Greater Dandenong, Frankston City Council, Hume City Council, Kingston City Council, Knox City Council, Manningham City Council, Maroondah City Council, Melton City Council, Mornington Peninsula Shire Council, Nillumbik Shire Council, City of Whittlesea, Wyndham City Council and Yarra Ranges Shire Council.
- The term First Peoples is used to refer to Traditional Owners of Victoria and all other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who reside in this state.
Funding available
Applications will be accepted for requests between $10,000 and $250,000. Applicants intending to apply for more than $50,000 need to discuss their tours with Creative Victoria program staff prior to the closing dates.
N.B. This is the only round of Touring Victoria for this financial year. There will be no Touring Victoria funding round in the first half of 2023.
Who can apply
- Victorian arts and cultural organisations; and
- Victorian based professional creative practitioners that have a history of presenting quality, professional arts product; and
- Tour coordinators applying on behalf of Victorian arts and cultural organisations or creative practitioners; and
- Other organisations, such as community or local government with relevant experience, coordinating or presenting a tour

Please note:
- State-owned cultural agencies and other cultural organisations receiving recurrent funding through Creative Victoria are eligible to apply to Touring Victoria.
- Grant funding agreements will only be entered into with legally constituted organisations that have a valid ABN.
- Creative Victoria will only accept one application per applicant.
First Peoples-led applications
Applications from First Peoples-led creative organisations will be assessed via a First Peoples-led process, embedding Aboriginal self-determination into the assessment process.
All other applications will be assessed by creative industries peers.

To tour the band to the 2019 OUTintheOPEN Festival, Shepparton’s annual festival celebrating LGBTI+ pride and community diversity. The 40-piece LGBTIQA community concert band will work with local musicians to develop their performance as part of the festival.

To tour Tell Me Why by Archie Roach, the life story of the iconic First Nations Elder, performer and storyteller, based on his memoir and album of the same name. The tour is travelling to 12 regional and two outer metropolitan destinations in 2020, and will include support act opportunities for local First Nations musicians, as well as meet-and-greet sessions and book and CD signings.

Presentation of the Orchestra Victoria Bendigo Festival 2020, a program of concerts and activities in Bendigo and surrounding towns including five chamber music concerts; a brass concert; a sensory concert; a series of children’s concerts in local libraries, including a bilingual concert in English and Karen; the mOVe education program of workshops and performances; a goldfields cabaret; a live performance to a silent film; plus initiatives to improve access to concerts for parents, refugees, children and the elderly.

The performances are accompanied by a music and dance workshop program.

To tour four theatre productions to various regional destinations: Red Stitch Actors Theatre’s American Song, a show about gun violence by Joanna Murray Smith; Red Stitch Actors Theatre’s Lamb, a piece on dementia by Jane Bodie with music by Mark Seymour; A Migrant’s Son, a cabaret work paying tribute to her Greek migrant family by Michaela Burger; and Rolling on the Floor Laughing so Hard by The Listies, an award-winning children’s comedy. Each show is accompanied by community engagement activities.
Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, $157 000

Presentation of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra 2020 Regional Touring Program in 11 regional destinations. The program includes the MSO in concert with British composers, The Lark Ascending; Swan Lake and Saint-Saens and Handel’s Messiah; Indigenous Lullabies, a family concert in partnership with regional First Peoples communities and language custodians; Melbourne Ensemble performing works by Beethoven in celebration of his 250th birthday; a schools production of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf; and a program of community engagement activities.
Each concert is to be opened by a musical acknowledgement of country developed with Deborah Cheetham and First Peoples language custodians.

Tour of Kieran Carroll’s The Truth Is Longer Than a Lie, a play investigating children’s experiences of family abuse and professional intervention. The tour is presented in partnership with Victorian Centres Against Sexual Assault and performances will be accompanied by Q&A forums with industry professionals. Flinders QuartetInc, $15,000
Tour of two concert programs that showcase compositions by emerging composers alongside well-known repertoire. The tour will include mentorship opportunities for teen string quartets in partnership with the John Noble Quartet Program, and shared performances with local musical groups to support the development of emerging musicians. Delivery of the second part of Regional Arts Victoria’s 2018 touring program. Featuring Damien Callinan’s comedic Swing Man, performances by Southern Ocean Sea Band, Michael Veitch's one man historical epic Hellship – the Journey of the Ticonderoga, Finucane & Smith’s Dance Hall, St Martins’ Fitter.Faster.Better, and Suitcase Royale’s Chronicles of a Sleepless Moon. The program will take in more than 30 regional and outer metropolitan destinations. The Village Festival of New Performance, $43,939
To present The Village Festival in Benalla as part of the 2018 Benalla Festival. The program will include community engagement activities in the lead up to the festival, re-invention of the Benalla Street Parade, a school drama program, and a food-based performance The World Kitchen.

For a regional tour of the Code Breakers: Women in Games exhibition throughout 2018 and 2019. Developed by ACMI, this exhibition celebrates the achievements of Australian and New Zealand women in the digital games industry. At each destination the tour will also include ‘Meet the Makers’ talks and workshops with featured games developers.
CreateAbility, $20,000
Confirmed destination: Wodonga
A tour of the theatre show No Hands, by mixed ability ensemble CreateAbility to The Cube Wodonga in September 2018. The tour will see the Bendigo-based ensemble give public performances and also share and exchange their skills with members of the Flying Fruit Fly Circus. The visit will include student, teacher and public workshops on creating inclusive performances for - and with - people of diverse abilities.

Pop up performance confirmed for Lake Tyers
Support for the Victorian leg of the national tour of a new production of musical theatre show The Sapphires. This production, which will take in 33 destinations across Victoria between February and September 2019, will feature an ensemble of emerging Aboriginal performers. The season will also include a ‘pop up’ version of the show which will tour to Aboriginal communities for free performances. In addition to performances, the season will include pre-show talks with writer and director of this production Tony Briggs and members of the original Sapphires, post-show Q&As, and meet and greet opportunities.
Mary Souness, $148,000
Delivery of Just Shows to Go's 2018 Café Culture Series which will run from February to December, touring to 16 small communities across Victoria. The program includes Pacific Belles, a performance featuring songs from the 1940s; the cabaret performance Red Dress & the Sugar Man, featuring music by Tom Waits; swing performers Dr Crask & His Swingin' Elixir band; and A Night of Bollywood, a celebration of Indian music and dance. The program will be accompanied by a series of workshops and artist talks at select locations.
Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, $79,492
Between April and September 2018, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra will perform 22 concerts in regional and outer metropolitan Victoria. The program will include performances of French arias, as well as works by Mozart and Vivaldi. The program will include a residency in Daylesford featuring performance of Schubert’s octet, and the MCO Small Halls Tour which will feature the Melba Quartet. In addition to performances, the tour includes pre-concert talks, post-concert ‘meet the musicians’ events, community talks, education performances, workshops and masterclasses.
Melbourne Recital Centre (MRC), $39,925
Confirmed destinations: Bendigo, Charlton, Mildura, Stratford, Swan Hill, Warragul, Warrnambool
Between February and December 2018 the Melbourne Recital Centre will spread its programming from its Southbank headquarters into 14 regional and outer metropolitan destinations. The concert program will feature chamber ensembles from the Recital Centre’s Local Heroes concert series and will include post show talks for students and audience members.
Orchestra Victoria, $87,000
Confirmed destinations: Bendigo, Hamilton (festival program)Between February and October 2018, Orchestra Victoria will present over 45 activities in regional Victoria ranging from festivals celebrating orchestra music, education concerts and pop-up performances. The Orchestra team will also tour the Class and Brass program, featuring brass band workshops and free community concerts, in regions with a history of community brass bands.
Regional Arts Victoria, on behalf of Ilbijerri Theatre $27,669
Support for the Victorian leg of a national tour of Ilbijerri Theatre's production Which Way Home, based on writer Katie Beckett's memories of growing up with her single father, featuring Katie Beckett and Tony Briggs. The Victorian season, which will run from May to July 2018, will take in ten regional and outer metropolitan destinations and will also offer an accompanying education program for schools and educators.
Regional Arts Victoria, $161,672
Regional Arts Victoria will provide touring support services to twelve productions that were picked up by presenters at the 2017 Showcase Victoria marketplace event. Between March and November 2018 these productions will tour to 32 regional and six outer metropolitan destinations across Victoria. The following productions will be on tour Hart (She Said Theatre); That’s Not A Daffodil (Jump Leads Productions); Ickypedia (The Listies); Elegy (Lab Kelpie); Dinosaur Time Machine (Highwire Events & Entertainment); Damian Callinan’s Swing Man (Hey Boss); Hell Ship: The Journey of the Ticonderoga (Chester Productions); Personal (Jodee Mundy Collaborations); Crunch Box 3-speed: Re Booted (Dislocate); Macdeth (Company 13); Super Amazing Giant Girl (Anna Lumb); and FoRT (Asking for Trouble).
Western Edge Youth Arts, $22,100
For a tour of Caliban, a performance by The Edge Ensemble, Western Edge's company of emerging artists that reinterprets part of Shakespeare's Tempest. The performance premiered at Malthouse Theatre in 2016 and between May to June 2018, the show will tour to five regional and one outer metro destinations and in addition to performances, the company will present workshops for young audiences.

Confirmed destination: Port FairyTour of 'Pandora's Box' to the 2017 Port Fairy Spring Music Festival. The production is a 1920s silent film which will screen alongside the live performance of an original score written by Jen Anderson. In addition to the performance, a composition workshop with local young people will also be held.

Confirmed destinations: Mildura, Murrayville, OuyenTour of the comedy cabaret production 'Reception: The Musical', to north west Victoria. A post-show Q & A, and a series of drama and music theatre workshops for secondary school students and local artists will be held as a part of the tour.

Regional Victorian tour of the company's latest contemporary circus show 'JUNK', accompanied by a program of community activities.

A tour of 'All My Love', a theatre production tracing the romance between Henry Lawson and Mary Gilmore. The tour, which will take place in 2018, will include talks with secondary school students, post-performance Q&As and post-performance meet and greet opportunities.

Confirmed destination: Warrnambool
For the presentation of Topias III, a solo exhibition of hand-painted photographs and large-scale video projections that will go on display at South West Healthcare, Warrnambool. Accompanying programming will engage hospital staff, patients, local artists and the general public through include a professional development workshop with local TAFE students, an artist floor talk and creative skills workshops.
Melbourne Ballet Company, $9,519
Tour of 'Archè', a ballet inspired by 'Swan Lake'. Accompanying programming will include company and performer talks, workshops and masterclasses for people of all ages and levels of experience.

Confirmed destination: Ararat
Presentation of The Playground, a public multi-media art-making project hosted by Ararat Regional Art Gallery. With the gallery closed for redevelopment, art will take over the streets in this interactive 'Pokémon Go'-style project that will see artworks and sculpture pieces placed around the town for the community and visitors to find, collect and bring together to form a mass public artwork. Accompanying programming will include public workshops and an interactive exhibition.
Writers Victoria, $47,000
Current confirmed locations: Mildura, Traralgon, Woodend Presentation of 'Writers on the Road', an 18-month touring program of literary events and professional development activities for writers in regional and outer metropolitan Victoria.
