We are pleased to announce the appointments of two Directors to our executive team Shaun Comerford as Director, Creative Investment and Zack Buchanan as Director, Policy and Industry Development.
Shaun joins Creative Victoria as Director, Creative Investment, where he will support the delivery of programs that strengthen Victoria's creative and cultural industries with a focus on the independent creative sector. Shaun brings over 15 years of executive leadership across the performing arts, events, and music sectors, with deep expertise in strategic investment, government partnerships, financial modelling, fundraising, and complex stakeholder management.
From 2018 to 2026, Shaun was Executive Director of Circa Contemporary Circus. Shaun’s career has also seen him lead Australian Dance Theatre, serve as Vice President of Ausdance National and work in theatre sector as General Manager of production company Newtheatricals. Shaun has lived for several years in Ballarat with his family, and he is excited to be joining Creative Victoria’s Melbourne-based office, bringing a strong appreciation of both regional and metropolitan creative communities. Shaun will commence in July.
Zack has been appointed Director, Policy and Industry Development, since joining Creative Victoria in 2024 he has played a key role in advancing our strategic policy work, including the development of Creative State 2028 strategy and associated initiatives. Zack brings a unique combination of expertise across economics, public policy, and creative industry.
Prior to joining Creative Victoria he held roles across both state and Commonwealth government including the Department of Premier and Cabinet, the Department of Justice and Community Safety and the Fair Work Commission. Zack is a practicing musician, and prior to entering government he worked in the music industry, managing the businesses of major performing artists, publishers, and labels. He holds degrees in economics and music composition.
