Academy Award-winning actor Jamie Foxx stars in the new Hollywood film Deadlocked, which starts filming in Melbourne in early October.
The action film follows a former Marine, played by Foxx, who is serving jury duty when a high-profile trial turns into a deadly hostage situation, and he is forced back into action. The cast includes Victorian actor Luke Hemsworth, as well as Sasha Calle and KiKi Layne.
Deadlocked will create more than 855 jobs for local cast and crew, plus roles for 1,000 extras – delivering more than $36 million for the Victorian economy. The production will work with 370 Victorian businesses, including screen industry experts working in armoury, safety and stunts, and general service providers.
The film's large-scale action sequences will be shot across Docklands, as Melbourne stands in for New York.
Deadlocked joins a growing pipeline of screen projects secured for Victoria, including:
- Skeletons, starring Oscar winner Brie Larson
- Period drama Fog City
- Hotel Hotel Hotel Hotel, starring Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya
- Empire City, starring Gerard Butler and Hayley Atwell.
Deadlocked was secured for Victoria by VicScreen through the Victorian Screen Incentive and is also accessing the Federal Government’s Location Offset.
