Submissions are now open for experienced and industry connected organisations, groups or partnerships to lead the initiative, which has been established through a $1 million joint investment by the Victorian Government and the City of Melbourne.

As Australia’s musical theatre capital, Melbourne is home to a thriving ecosystem of performers, writers, composers, producers, presenters and companies, and continues to play a leading role in the creation, development and staging of major musical theatre works.

The Fund will back Victorian talent to develop new musical theatre works while also supporting practitioners and companies to develop their skills and build their businesses through skills development programs, mentoring and networking to support knowledge sharing across the sector.

Following the appointment of a delivery partner, the Musical Theatre Development Fund activities are expected to commence next year.

Submissions for the Musical Theatre Development Fund delivery partner open on Monday 14 September 2026 and close at 5.00pm on Sunday 11 October 2026. For more information visit creative.vic.gov.au
