DIVA exhibition to debut at the new Australian Museum of Performing Arts at Arts Centre Melbourne

A celebration of history’s most powerful divas will be the inaugural exhibition at Arts Centre Melbourne’s new Australian Museum of Performing Arts at Arts Centre Melbourne.

Opening in December, DIVA is an acclaimed international exhibition from London’s Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) that will feature more than 250 objects including 60  costumes, jewellery, photography, art and music drawn from the V&A, Arts Centre Melbourne’s own Australian Performing Arts Collection and loaned items from across the world.

The exhibition will showcase some of the world’s best-known performers, from 19th century opera singers to today’s global pop culture icons.

Items on display include Rihanna’s Margiela Papal outfit worn at the 2018 Met Gala, Lady Gaga’s blue Valentino gown worn to the 2019 Golden Globes, Kylie Minogue’s red Padam Padam music video outfit and a black and gold floor length gown worn by Whitney Houston.

DIVA will also feature items from Jessica Mauboy, Billie Eilish, Deborah Cheetham, and Amy Taylor (Amyl and the Sniffers).
