With work now underway on the $1.7 billion Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation. five sculptures that usually reside on the grounds outside Arts Centre Melbourne will be temporarily relocated to Langwarrin’s McClelland Sculpture Park and Gallery and Heide Museum of Modern Art.
Rhythms of Life, Family of Man I, Family of Man II, have been installed at McClelland as part of a long-term loan as Arts Centre Melbourne undergoes significant updates to its buildings and public space.
Sculptures Marathon Man II by artist Anthony Pryor and the aptly named Coming and Going, are being loaned to Heide Museum of Modern Art and will be installed in early March.
Since being removed from Arts Centre Melbourne, the sculptures have been carefully stored, cleaned, and prepared for installation by J. K. Fasham, Melbourne’s specialist sculpture fabricators and installers. With the sculptures on loan for five years, new audiences will have the chance to enjoy them at their temporary homes.
The $1.7 billion Melbourne Arts Precinct project is Australia’s largest ever cultural infrastructure project and will transform the cultural heart of our city.
