Renowned ABC Executive Producer and journalist Erin Vincent has been appointed the new CEO of Australia’s centre for books, writing and ideas, The Wheeler Centre.
A dynamic leader and storyteller, Ms Vincent has more than 10 years’ experience as a media executive, leading creative teams and managing relationships across the media, politics, corporate Australia and the arts.
She has steered audience reach and development projects across digital and social platforms; and championed a 50:50 gender initiative in partnership with the BBC.
Ms Vincent began her career as a journalist in regional Victoria before joining the ABC in 2009. She started as a reporter, before moving to roles leading teams and developing innovative content aimed at reaching new audiences.
Ms Vincent has led national flagship programs including Insiders and News Breakfast. Her most recent role was Executive Producer of the ABC’s weekly national affairs discussion program Q+A.
Erin also played a pivotal role in developing Australia Talks, an ambitious, ABC-wide initiative developed in collaboration with social and data scientists. The project went on to become Australia’s biggest ever social survey, taking in the thoughts, feelings and opinions of more than 60,000 Australians.
Established in 2008, as a centrepiece of Melbourne UNESCO City of Literature designation, The Wheeler Centre presents an extensive program of public talks and events featuring leading writers, thinkers and performers. It also delivers initiatives that champion and support local writers, including the Victorian Premiers Literary Awards.
