Announcement
Digital games, visual effects (VFX) and animation vocational pathway – request for Expression of Interest

30 May 2023

Stream Recorded Information Session

Creative Victoria held an online information session via Teams, Thursday 25 May, 2023.

Attendees had the opportunity to hear from representatives from Creative Victoria, VicScreen and the Victorian Skills Authority, followed by a Q&A session.

The Victorian Government, through Creative Victoria, seeks Expressions of Interest (EOI) from education providers to establish new educational pathways to careers in the digital screen sector in Victoria.

Proposals are sought from providers with the capability to develop and deliver international-standard, specialised tertiary curriculum to equip graduates for employment in:

  • digital games,
  • visual effects (VFX); and
  • animation.

The dedicated training will help to meet the growing global demand for these highly sought-after skills, expanding the state’s workforce capability and supporting the increasing volume and quality of screen production in Victoria.

The training will provide a further boost to Victoria’s international credentials for producing screen content.

Respondents are asked to demonstrate how their proposal will:

  • Address the needs of both students and industry
  • Meet necessary requirements for accreditation
  • Extend and build on existing educational capability
  • Reflect international best practice for VFX, digital games and animation training.

Respondents are encouraged to consider how their respective proposals will align with the Victorian Skills Plan and address priorities in skills provision.

Respondents are also encouraged to consider partnership opportunities with digital games, VFX and animation studios.

The State recognises that the market may adopt different approaches to delivering this opportunity and Creative Victoria welcomes unique and innovative propositions. Proposals should meet the objectives of the project and support the State’s vision for Victoria to be a global powerhouse for screen.

A detailed outline of the EOI application process – including the expected form and content of responses – plus further context, guidelines and evaluation criteria is available via links below.

This website will be updated weekly with additional information and questions raised throughout the process.

Please note: the EOI Guidelines were updated on 11 May 2023, refer to Revision History for details.
