VICSCREEN, the Victorian Government’s first screen strategy in more than 10 years, is a transformational, whole-of-government plan to invigorate Victoria’s screen industry, create jobs, foster new talent and generate significant economic returns.

The strategy, launched in May 2021, will guide the Victorian Government record $191.5 million investment over the next four years, responding to global opportunities and challenges, growing the sector in scale and volume, and establishing Victoria as a world-class screen centre.

With Victorian ideas, talent and businesses at its heart, the strategy will also ensure that our screen industry embraces diversity and inclusion across screen production, and market and audience development.

VICSCREEN comprises 11 actions across four strategic priorities and is designed to:

  • Generate compelling Victorian content and IP
  • Drive industry growth and jobs
  • Develop skills and talent, and
  • Build market and consumer engagement.

The strategy takes a holistic view of screen activity and, through new partnerships, programs and initiatives, seeks to reshape Victoria into a global powerhouse for screen that enriches and benefits all Victorians.

VICSCREEN was developed, tested and refined throughout 2020. Film Victoria led the process, in collaboration with Creative Victoria, ACMI, Docklands Studios Melbourne and with contributions from a range of stakeholders.
