The Melbourne Winter Masterpieces series brings major international art exhibitions exclusively to Melbourne each winter.

The series was initiated by the Victorian Government to:

  • Attract national and international visitors to Victoria during what was traditionally the quieter tourism period.
  • Generate significant economic impact for the state
  • Generate significant national and international media exposure for Victoria

Since 2004, there have been 26 blockbuster exhibitions which have attracted 6.8 million local, interstate and international attendances, generating over $550m for the Victorian economy.
