Andrew joined what was then Arts Victoria in August 2013 and in 2014-15 led its transition to Creative Victoria. This broadened the organisation’s remit to a wider array of creative industries – taking in sectors such as fashion, design and screen, as well as the arts.

He oversaw the development and delivery of the Victorian Government’s first-ever creative industries strategy Creative State 2016-2020, with an ambitious agenda to increase the cultural, social and economic impact of the creative industries. This important work continues with the current Creative State 2025 strategy.

Andrew has championed game-changing major projects, such as the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation, and led Victoria’s creative sector throughout the challenges of the pandemic.

In addition to his role as Chief Executive of Creative Victoria, Andrew has served as Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions Deputy Secretary, Creative Sport and Visitor Economy since 2019.

His new role leading Victoria’s 2026 Commonwealth Games submission brings together his experience across the creative, sport, tourism and major events portfolios, and we wish him all the best.

Andrew’s last day at Creative Victoria is Tuesday 22 February 2022 and he will be greatly missed by the CV team.
