Thanks to the efforts of Victorians, and following our state conducting the biggest coronavirus (COVID-19) testing blitz in the nation, Creative Victoria is now working closely with our sector colleagues to plan for a potential phased re-opening of arts and cultural venues.
Creative Victoria is developing guidelines to assist galleries, museums, theatres, performing arts organisations and other venues and spaces on how we might re-open when it is safe to do so. The guidelines will also inform the staging of events, performances and festivals.
At their core, the guidelines will focus on the actions that will need to be taken to ensure the safety of:
- audiences, visitors and the wider public
- staff, volunteers, presenters, collaborators and others who work on these sites.
Developed in collaboration with peak bodies, key organisations and state-owned cultural agencies, the guidelines will cover all aspects of operations, accounting for organisations of different sizes and types. They will be prepared in close consultation with the Victorian Chief Health Officer and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to align with any gradual easing of restrictions.
