Funding is now available to establish, activate and support new and existing coworking and creative spaces in regional areas across the state.

Grants of up to $75,000 are available for infrastructure costs and upgrades, as well as to expand programs and projects at creative spaces that reach out to creatives and local communities large and small.

Supported projects could include upgrading an unused building to create an artist studio, buying new furnishings or equipment for an existing space, or expanding programming to reach wider audiences in regional communities. These projects could result in new coworking hubs, artist studios or rehearsal spaces or they can seek to increase access to and participation in current creative spaces.

Funding is available to individuals, organisations and collectives, including social enterprises, not-for-profit organisations and regional councils. Projects can vary from one-off costs for a small venture or large-scale projects that are ongoing. Projects must take place in one of the 48 regional local government areas.

Expressions of interest for the Regional Coworking Spaces and Creative Places program closed on 9 October 2019. The EOI is a simple two-page form describing the program or project, with shortlisted applicants invited to submit further information. The program will run as a pilot in 2019.

Visit Regional Coworking Spaces and Creative Places for full program guidelines and further information.
