The team behind one of the country’s leading creative institutions, Melbourne’s Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), is set to partner with the Bendigo community to bring the Bendigo Creative Industries Hub to life.

ACMI will collaborate with a local advisory board and recruitment has commenced for locally-based coordinator to manage the Hub’s operations and the events program - ranging from forums and networking sessions to hands-on workshops and mentoring.

Bendigo architecture firm e+ architecture has been engaged to develop a design that will transform the long vacant space on Mitchell Street into a co-working, events and community space that will be fully operational in early 2020.

Until then, the space will be used by Multicultural Arts Victoria’s Emerge Cultural Hub for careers and skills development workshops for emerging artists from diverse cultural backgrounds alongside a pop-up retail space for participating artists to sell their works.

ACMI has been contracted to develop and operate the Hub until October 2021 with a remit to build a local team to take the reins from then on.

Through the partnership, a hot desk will be available at ACMI X in Melbourne’s Southbank for Bendigo-based creatives to use, while ACMI X’s Melbourne residents will also have access to space at the Bendigo Hub, providing opportunities for collaboration and knowledge exchange.
