From rock to classical – Victorian talent has dominated 2018 ARIAs best album categories with four of the seven going to Vic musicians.

Courtney Barnett’s Tell Me How You Really Feel, represented on Melbourne independent record labels Milk! Records and Remote Control Records, was named Best Rock Album.

Young gun Tash Sultana took home her first ARIA for her record Flow State (Lonely Lands Records/Sony Music) which was awarded best Blues & Roots Album.

Nation Of Two (Liberation Records) by Vance Joy has won Best Adult Contemporary Album.

And finally, Best Classical Album went to classical guitarist Slava Grigoryan’s Bach Cello Suites Volume II (ABC Classics/Universal).

At the ceremony, local musician Adam Briggs from A.B Original performed a tribute to honour Gurrumul, who passed away last July, and Vic great Paul Kelly recited a poem to celebrate Kasey Chambers’ induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
