Last week Creative Victoria welcomed five music industry leaders from Latin America who travelled to this side of the globe as part of the Victorian Government’s Victoria Invitation Program – a trade-mission style program that aims to build strategic business connections between Victoria and key markets across the globe.
Creative Victoria partnered with Sounds Australia to create a unique program that brought the delegates together with our local music industry in order to build connections and generate business opportunities, from tours to collaborations and deals with labels, between Victoria and Latin America – one of the youngest demographics in the world.
Delegates from Brazil, Chile and Mexico experienced Melbourne’s music city status through a whirlwind five-day program where they met over 30 local industry bodies, networked with the broader music community and attended gigs by local musicians such as Ali Barter, Totally Mild, Birdz, Kingswood and Harvey Sutherland.
The delegates attracted a crowd of local musicians and professionals during a panel session held at Music Victoria during the week, and Paola Wescher Director of the PopLoad music festival (São Paulo, Brazil) presented alongside design and games experts at a Creative Exchange event, Local Events: Global Impacts.
This music delegation was part of a wider program of over 30 creative industries leaders and decision-makers from across the globe who travelled to Melbourne to make connections and do business with Victoria’s creative sector.
