Malthouse Theatre will debut its critically acclaimed production of Picnic at Hanging Rock at the Barbican this week, with support from Creative Victoria.
After sell-out seasons in Melbourne and Edinburgh, Matthew Lutton’s production of Picnic at Hanging Rock will open at one of London’s most prestigious venues.
Creative Victoria has provided $20,000 to support the Barbican season, which is expected to attract an audience of up to 6,500 over the course of five shows.
This is the second Malthouse Theatre production to play at the Barbican, following the presentation of The Shadow King in 2016, as part of the Shakespeare 400-year anniversary celebrations.
The Barbican presentation of Picnic at Hanging Rock has included a screening of Peter Weir’s classic cinema adaptation and will feature a post-show discussion with director Matthew Lutton on Friday 23 February.
Malthouse Theatre is supported through the Organisations Investment Program.
