5 October 2018

Victorian small halls, community centres, and even a light station will set the stage for a range of music and theatre performances thanks to the latest round of grants through the Small Regional Presenters program.

Wilma and Friends

Wilma and Friends

More than $60,000 in funding will assist community groups from some of Victoria’s smallest communities to bring exciting events to their area including comedy, chamber music, a Shakespearian classic and contemporary music performances.

Several performances include community workshops where students and local art lovers will have the opportunity to meet with artists and learn new skills. Cororooke locals will be treated to a masterclass with international concert pianist Roman Rudnytsky, and Otways music students will have the chance to perform with visiting musicians.

The Small Regional Presenters program is open to regional arts presenters including not-for-profit arts groups and societies, venues and local councils.

Unlike a traditional touring model which supports artists to take their work on the road, the Small Regional Presenters program breaks new ground by supporting venues or presenters who are ‘on the ground’ to attract shows to their area.

Grants of between $1,500 to $15,000 are available to support the presentation of a single show or live event, a series of shows or an annual program. Applications are invited from regionally based arts presenters, including not-for-profit arts groups and societies, venues and local councils.
