Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW) will return in October 2018 with what’s expected to be its biggest program yet – and proposals are being sought for events wanting to be part of the action.
Now in its fourth year, MIGW has grown to be Asia Pacific’s largest celebration of games, and a go-to event for the global industry. Last year’s Games Week attracted more than 65,000 people, including a growing number of international visitors.
Unique internationally, MIGW brings together major games industry conferences, public and family friendly events, special programs for teachers and for emerging talent, and the massive consumer expo PAX Australia.
MIGW 2018 will run from 20-28 October at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and venues across the city. Marquee events include the annual Game Connect Asia Pacific conference, which last year attracted a record 1,200 delegates, and PAX Australia, the only PAX event outside of the US.
Proposals are being sought for events, conferences, exhibitions and other games-related industry, education or public activities to join the MIGW 2018 umbrella program.
Digital games development is one of the fastest growing global creative industries. Melbourne is recognised as Australia’s home of games development, headquartering more than half of the country’s industry, and increasingly as a leading player in the Asia Pacific.
Melbourne International Games Week is Victorian Government initiative, presented by Creative Victoria in collaboration with Film Victoria, Australian Centre for the Moving Image, and the Game Developers Association of Australia.
