The annual awards acknowledge and celebrate Victorian designers and businesses that use exceptional and transformative design to create better products and services.

Submissions are being called for across eight categories:

  • Architectural Design
  • Communication Design
  • Industrial and Product Design
  • Service Design
  • Digital Design
  • Design Strategy
  • Fashion Design
  • Tertiary Student Design

New for 2018 is the VCE Product Design Student Award, established in collaboration with the Design and Technology Teachers’ Association of Victoria.

The new category underscores the importance of design and design thinking to Victoria’s future, and aims to inspire the next generation of designers, and business and social innovators.

The Premier’s Design Awards are supported by the Victorian Government through its creative industries strategy, Creative State. They are part of a package of initiatives to promote the value of design, strengthen the industry and reinforce Victoria’s position as a world leader in design.

Entries to the Victorian Premier’s Design Awards are judged by a panel of eminent Australian and international design experts, through a two-stage judging process. The awards are administered by Good Design Australia on behalf of the Victorian Government.

Past winners include: YMCA Playnasium by Bayly Group, McCann and YMCA; Oi: The Knog Bike Bell by Catalyst Design Group; Blackmagic Studio Camera; and The Food Justice Truck by CobaltNiche Design, Asylum Seeker Resource Centre and VMS Group.

The 2018 award winners will be announced at a ceremony at the National Gallery of Victoria in September 2018.

Entries close Friday 20 July 2018.
