Seventeen Victorian game development companies are destined for Gamescom 2018, with support from Creative Victoria.
Held in Cologne, Germany, Gamescom is the world’s largest event for the digital games industry, attracting over 30,000 games industry professionals and 350,000 games enthusiasts each year.
Gamescom is a pillar event for game development businesses seeking publishing, investment and media partnerships and includes both trade-only and consumer exhibition opportunities. Attendees include decision makers from almost all of the world’s major games publishing companies, hardware and technology providers, investors, influential press and country representatives from territories with strong game development sectors.
Following a successful trade mission to Gamescom last year, the Game Developers Association of Australia (GDAA) will host a national pavilion at the 2018 event, which runs from 21-25 August.
Twenty Australian games companies will be represented in the pavilion, with seventeen of them hailing from Victoria’s thriving games industry. Film Victoria is offering generous support to the Victorian mission through travel and exhibition grants.
Creative Victoria worked closely with the GDAA and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to support the initial trade mission to Gamescom in 2017.
The Australian pavilion in Gamescom 2018 has the additional support of Austrade, Western Australia and Queensland in the first national representation of the games industry abroad.
