Having made a successful debut in Ballarat this year, White Night will travel to Geelong and Bendigo for the first time in 2018.

White Night Artistic Director David Atkins OAM made the announcement late last week at the Geelong Botanic Gardens, signalling an exciting new chapter for the arts and creativity in regional Victoria.

White Night has already proved a hit with Victorians in the regions, with more than 40,000 people flocking to Ballarat for the event.

White Night Ballarat generated over $3 million for the local economy, and next year’s new iterations promise a similar boost local businesses and jobs.

Geelong and Bendigo were chosen as White Night destinations as both cities have the experience and infrastructure to host major cultural events.

David Atkins OAM will lead the charge at both sites, working with Victoria’s cultural institutions, independent artists and the best creative minds to deliver unique and exceptional experiences for local audiences.

Geelong has a rich history shaped by its Indigenous heritage and White Night will pay tribute to it. White Night Bendigo will pay homage to the city’s rich history, from the myths and legends of its Indigenous owners to its Gold Rush past, and notable visit by composer Richard Strauss, to its current vibrant arts and cultural community.

White Night Bendigo will take place on Saturday 1 September 2018 while White Night Geelong takes place on Saturday 13 October 2018.

White Night is also returning to Ballarat for a second time on Saturday 17 March 2018.
