Four of Victoria's leading independent performing arts companies are showcasing at the Theatre der Welt Festival in Hamburg this month.

Back to Back Theatre, Lady Eats Apple

Back To Back Theatre, Chunky Move, Aphids, and Madeleine Flynn and Tim Humphrey are presenting at the festival, as part of the Australian Government's Australia now Germany program, a year-long series of Australian arts and culture in Germany.

Theatre der Welt is an international theatre festival initiated by the International Theatre Institute to present theatre productions from all over the world. Every three years the Festival invites performing arts companies from around the world to perform in a different German theatre.

Theatre der Welt has invited the Victorian companies to present recent work in the Festival's central venues in Hamburg this year.

Back to Back will present Lady Eats Apple, Chunky Move will showcase its contemporary dance work An Act of Now and Aphids will present Flyway, while Flynn and Humphrey premier Five Short Blasts.

The companies' work will be showcased to producers and presenters from around the world, who visit and purchase works at the Festival, as well as significant public audiences.

The Victorian companies have received $60,000 from Creative Victoria to help meet the costs of participating, in addition to  support from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
