Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander writers, directors, performers, producers and storytellers across Victoria are invited to apply to be part of Bust Up, a new initiative aimed at uncovering and fostering Indigenous comedic screen talent.
A collaborative effort by Film Victoria and SBS' National Indigenous Television (NITV), the initiative invites Victorian‐based Indigenous storytellers working in any creative discipline to participate in a workshop program which will support participants to develop their skills in comedy, with the aim to support and encourage Indigenous creative practitioners to bring their stories to the screen.
Bust Up will be led by well‐known comedy writer Mark O'Toole (Black Comedy, Full Frontal, Spicks and Specks) and will cover comedy writing basics as well as concept and content development.
Applicants are required to have a demonstrated flair for comedy through performance, writing, directing, producing or other means.
Bust Up workshops will take place in July and applications are open until 15 May.
