A brave new world of digital gaming is promised for the second instalment of Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW) — an artfully curated, 10-day program that celebrates all aspects of games and puts Victoria's booming digital games industry on a global stage.

Melbourne International Games Week 2016

Melbourne International Games Week 2016 runs from 29 October to 7 November

MIGW is the largest games event in the Asia-Pacific region, packed with events for eager games enthusiasts, educators and innovators across entertainment, education and business sectors.

This year, over 60,000 game enthusiasts will participate in key events across the city. MIGW boasts all-ages, live games activities; games conferences and consumer shows including Game Connect Asia Pacific, Unite Melbourne, PAX Australia, the Australian Game Developers' Awards and the Education in Games Summit.

Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) has joined the program this year and will host Games: A Family Affair, a day of game-related activities for the young and young at heart; and, Game Changer: VR Festival, a special program to discover the latest in virtual reality technology.

Two specially commissioned live games have been created for MIGW to help both locals and visitors explore the city in a whole new dimension. Visit the Games Week website to download them for free.

The week's events are held in close proximity in some of Melbourne's biggest and best event venues, from ACMI to the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.

MIGW 2016 runs from 29 October to 7 November.
