Bijoy Jain of Studio Mumbai has been engaged to design MPavilion 2016.

Bijoy is one of the world's most fascinating architects, with an approach to design that reflects a deep concern for craft, sustainability and community.

Born in Mumbai, India, Bijoy received his Masters in Architecture from Washington University in St Louis, USA. His work has been presented at the XII Venice Biennale and the Victoria & Albert Museum, and has received several awards including the Global Award in Sustainable Architecture (2009), the Finnish Spirit of Nature Wood Architecture Award (2012), the BSI Swiss Architecture Award (2012) and the Grande Medaille d'Or from the Academie D'Architecture in Paris, France (2014).

Bijoy has worked with architects such as Richard Meier and is highly recognised for building architecture that "contains the life of its environment". He will work closely with the team at the Naomi Milgrom Foundation to deliver the 2016 MPavillion.

Designed by Amanda Levete, the 2015 MPavillion attracted 76,000 visitors and presented 419 free events; 40 talks and public lectures; 52 music performances; 60 public workshops; and 53 educational events focused on contemporary design and architecture.

The 2015 MPavillion was named 1 of 15 installations that capture the global imagination by Wallpaper* magazine and one of the Top 10 temporary structures worldwide by Designboom.
