24 August 2016

New Victorian law requires organisations that provide services for children to meet Child Safe Standards by 1 January 2017.

All organisations that work with children, whether in scope of the new law or not, are strongly encouraged to adopt the Standards in providing a child safe environment.

Creative Victoria is pleased to invite you to a forum on these Standards to provide you with an introduction to the Standards and to help you make preparations.

The forum will be presented by the Commission for Children and Young People.  The Commission has developed a range of resources that provide practical guidance on how you can meet the Standards as well as assess your readiness. These include:

  • A guide for creating a child safe organisation, including a child safety review self-assessment tool
  • Tip sheets for organisations
  • Tip sheets for parents and carers
