Applications are now open for Showcase Victoria, Victoria's performing arts marketplace.
Delivered by the Victorian Association of Performing Arts Centres (VAPAC) and Regional Arts Victoria with support from Creative Victoria, this annual event connects performing arts companies with regional and international presenters.
It brings together producers, presenters, artists, venue and festival managers, community development workers and programmers of all kinds, to experience an exciting and diverse range of high quality work, and ultimately to facilitate touring.
From May 31-June 1 2017, Showcase Victoria will take place at The Coopers Malthouse in the heart of Melbourne's arts precinct.
Productions looking to tour to both metro and regional venues, large and small, across all genres of the performing arts (including contemporary music), are encouraged to apply. Selection is made via an industry panel comprised of venue representatives from across the state, and staff from VAPAC and Regional Arts Victoria.
Applications to be part of the program open on 11 January and close on 8 February 2017.
This time-frame is shorter than in recent years and, for the first time, the application process is fully online. In announcing these changes, Showcase Coordinator Gemma Robertson acknowledges the need to "align the application process with industry standards and most importantly, to streamline it in response to feedback from artists and producers who often feel swamped by deadlines and form-filling!"
Showcase Victoria 2017 will be packed with live performance excerpts and pitches, plus opportunities for buying, selling, networking and connecting, with over 300 delegates expected from Victoria and interstate.
