Architecture has customarily taken up land and impacted the natural environment. In response to this, Repair advocated for an approach to architecture that catalyses environmental, social or cultural repair. This approach is particularly relevant for Australian architects who work in one of the most biodiverse and ecologically sensitive landscapes in the world.
Repair incorporated three collaborative works: Grasslands Repair, a living installation of more than sixty species of grassland plants from south east Victoria that once grew on the site of Melbourne; Skylight, a life-sustaining light installation that provided the necessary light spectrum to the plants, something usually denied by the fabric of a building; and Ground, a video program featuring Australian architectural projects that engage with ideas of repair.
