Sarah Hope Schofield
Sarah Hope Schofield is a designer and maker based between Paris and Melbourne whose work explores haute couture techniques. Her cross-cultural experiences growing up in rural Australia followed by nine years living in Paris have informed her design identity.
Inspired by Australian and French archetypal clothing, pieces are draped and fixed roughly to the body with belted stays. Mimicking a child playing at dress-up, the garments are fixed to the front and side of the body, unbalancing the silhouette. Embellishments are crafted from cheap materials like calico, plastic and leather scrap, and value created through hours of laborious hand work.
