Kate Rohde is known for her jewellery and sculptural object-based practice. Nowadays, she predominantly works with resin and hand-casting techniques. In 2015, she was a finalist in the Rigg Design Prize at the National Gallery of Victoria. After collaborating with Sydney fashion house Romance was Born on their 2010/11 Spring/Summer collection ‘Renaissance Dinosaur’ and their 2011/12 Autumn/Winter collection ‘Fruits and Flowers’, she started making costume jewellery and has developed an extensive and ever-evolving range of bold statement pieces. Rohde takes her cues from the natural world. Her wearable works incorporate crystalline forms, zoomorphic features and striking colour palettes.
