Alastair Richardson, Principal Director of Cox Architecture
Alastair Richardson, Principal Director of Cox Architecture, is one of the pre-eminent sports architects in Asia Pacific, designing and delivering projects of global significance which deliver a fans-first experience, while providing enhanced revenue for owners and operators.
His work has been recognised internationally and locally with numerous architectural and industry awards. Alastair is a regular contributor to conferences and international publications.
During the past twenty years Alastair has been the sports architect and Director for WestpacTrust Stadium, Forsyth Barr Stadium, Eden Park Redevelopment, Suncorp Stadium, Adelaide Oval, SCG Northern Stand, NiB Stadium and was the Director responsible for the delivery of the new Perth Stadium.
Of major stadia and arena in Australia there are few that have not had their planning or development guided by Alastair. He has worked on all but one of the Australian Football League venues and is currently working on several projects for the A-League, Australia’s professional soccer league.
Alastair is currently working across Asia advising on venue development to maximise fan experience, precinct creation and revenue development. Through Alastair’s sport work he has developed an acute understanding of the strategic thinking required to assist clients and governments in the creation of new developments that enhance nation-building and social interaction. His strategic and future insights have helped define the needs of major sporting infrastructure.
