First Nations Lead, APAM Office

The Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) Office is seeking a highly skilled and experienced performing arts producer to undertake the role of First Nations Lead. This exciting opportunity, within a small newly established team, is open to proposals from individuals, existing organisations, or collectives of individuals for a shared portfolio of responsibilities in the fulfilment of the role. The APAM Office is committed to embedding First Nations programming and leadership as a core part of its operations, events and activities. The position of First Nations Lead will be central to the APAM Office’s capacity to build on the strengths of previous iterations of APAM and ensure the First Nations performing arts sector plays a key role in the design and delivery of this new model.

About APAM
The Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) is an internationally focused showcase of contemporary Australian performing arts. It was established in 1994 by the Australian Council for the Arts and has been held as a biennial event since then, most recently in Brisbane. At the end of the 2018 event, the APAM baton was passed to Melbourne under a revised model that will transform the market from a biennial event to a year-round program of activity designed to strengthen international touring, partnerships and engagement opportunities. The APAM Office will match Australian artists and companies with international and national presenters and programmers throughout the year and will co-ordinate a major industry gathering every two years in association with a key performing arts event.

The Melbourne APAM office is an independent organisation, supported by the Australia Council for the Arts and Creative Victoria. This position will be employed by the Melbourne APAM Office.
