8 March 2017
Our best and brightest creative students are set to shine in the 2017 VCE Season of Excellence, a showcase of art, design and performance by recent VCE and VET graduates.
Comprising a series of performing arts concerts, two exhibitions of artistry and design, and a film showcase, the annual season captivates audiences and provides an enriching educational opportunity for teachers and students.
The Top Class concert series will highlight Victoria's emerging dancers, actors, theatre designers, musicians and composers in a series of concerts at the Melbourne Recital Centre and the University of Melbourne's Melba Hall.
Running until Wednesday 22 March, the concerts will allow audiences to experience interpretations of classical and contemporary music and dance, drama monologues, original compositions and innovative examples of stagecraft.
On Friday 12 May, selected performances from the Top Class concert series will be presented in one exciting concert, Top Acts.
Opening Thursday 8 March at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), the Top Screen film festival will showcase memorable and imaginative short films from VCE Media students – including narratives, music clips and animations.
From Saturday 18 March to Sunday 16 July, the Top Designs exhibition will present design and technology work from VCE and VCE VET students across Victoria. Returning to Melbourne Museum, the exhibition will allow audiences to explore innovative student creations in fashion, furniture, product design, photography, graphic design, print layout, architectural and industrial design, food and mechanical and electrical products.
Top Arts, at the National Gallery of Victoria from Friday 24 March to Sunday 16 July, presents the unique ideas, creative concepts and thinking processes of VCE Art and VCE Studio Arts students.
