Writers will be eligible to take their stories packing following the announcement of a new travel fund – the inaugural Neilma Sidney Literary Travel Fund.

An initiative of The Myer Foundation and delivered by Writers Victoria, grants from $2,000 and $10,000 will be available to Australian writers, editors, agents, publishers, librarians, booksellers and other literary professionals at all stages of their career.

Writer Neilma Sidney (1922-2015) was a keen traveller and wrote many of her tales en route. The fund recognises the value of travel in the development of new writing and literary careers.

The first round of the fund will open Monday 24 July and close Monday 21 August 2017.
