Entries are now open for the 2017 Victorian Craft Awards, with a prize pool of more than $20,000 honouring excellence in contemporary craft practice.
The biennial Awards are open to emerging, mid-career and established craftspeople across the state of Victoria. Applications of individual works and installations utilising craft skills, processes and materials are welcome.
The Awards include Australia's most valuable jewellery prize, supported by Creative Victoria, which honours the legacy of the late Lynne Kosky, former Victorian Arts Minister and a keen jeweller.
Up to 100 entries will be selected for a finalists' exhibition in June and July 2017, with the following cash prizes awarded from this pool:
- $10,000 Lynne Kosky Jewellery Award (supported by Creative Victoria)
- $5,000 Excellence Award
- $5,000 Ceramic Award
- $2,000 Encouragement Award
- $1,000 Chairman's Prize for Innovation
Established in 2015, the Victorian Craft Awards are a focused, peer-reviewed opportunity for makers and collectors, and have enabled finalists to leverage new creative and commercial opportunities beyond the scope of the event itself.
The Awards also present a broad snapshot of the vitality of contemporary Victorian craft.
The Victorian Craft Awards Exhibition runs from 3 June-15 July 2017 at Craft and further venues still to be announced.
Entries for the 2017 Victorian Craft Awards close on Monday 27 March.
