The Regional Centre for Culture 2018 Commissions Program will offer three grants of $260,000 to support the creation of major new projects in any creative form from visual art to performance, screen-based activity - including digital games - design, fashion or a combination these.

Victorian creatives are invited to propose ground-breaking works inspired by the 2018 Regional Centre for Culture region which will take in the City of Greater Bendigo, Mount Alexander, Central Goldfields and Hepburn Shires.

The three selected works will be presented within the City of Greater Bendigo, in partnership with the City, between mid-August and mid-October 2018.

The projects will provide significant professional development opportunities for Victorian artists and creative practitioners and will be a drawcard for both locals and visitors during the Regional Centre for Culture 2018 program.

Applications are open to all Victorian creative organisations or creative practitioners working as part of collectives, with a priority for those based in the designated regional centre for culture area.

The program will give also give priority to projects that:

  • are made for, by, or with young people and their families
  • reflect the rich history and contemporary presence of Victoria’s Aboriginal people, and
  • are developed through collaborations between creative practitioners or companies of different sizes or from different creative fields.

The Commissions program complements the Regional Centre for Culture – Local Grants program which will provide grants of between $1,500 and $30,000 to support local creative projects and activities taking place in 2018. This program is also open for applications.

Creative practitioners and community members can learn more about the programs on offer and other ways to get involved in the Regional Centre for Culture by attending one of the Town Hall meetings being held across this region this month - 26 July and 16 August.
