Falls Creek Alpine Resort is located in North East Victoria surrounded by the pristine Alpine National Park, providing a unique background for participating Artists to create exceptional art pieces stimulated by the rich history and cultural influences of the area.

The annual initiative will commence in early 2017 and aims to increase creative spaces, public art and cultural opportunities within the Falls Creek Resort, which sees over 500,000 visitors annually.

FCRM is calling for expressions of interest from creative artists, academics and curators to take part in this exciting new program.

The Falls Creek Arts & Culture Development Committee was established to activate key objectives in FCRM's recently adopted Arts and Culture Strategy. This includes a five year plan to reinvigorate year-round cultural activity on the mountain.

"The residency program offers artists a chance to familiarise themselves with the Falls Creek community and surrounding alpine park and develop ideas for permanent or ephemeral works" says Lindy Allen Chair of Falls Creek Arts and Culture Development Committee. "We then plan to work with the artists to source funding to create the work".

"Our Committee assessed the first submissions and are thrilled at the calibre of artists who are interest in spending time at Falls Creek in creative development" says Allen "Internationally renowned street artist TWOONE and Artistic Director of the CAD Factory, Vic McEwan are visiting us in February 2017.  We still have a number of places available".

In order to capitalise on the momentum created by the community consultation in developing the strategy, the committee is keen to reactivate artists' summer engagement with the mountain.

Applications are now open.
