Seven ambitious projects by early career practitioners will be developed through the program for presentation in Melbourne at Next Wave Festival 2018, then in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and Sydney.

The co-commissions will include guaranteed funding and expert mentorship, with some including multiple presentation opportunities. They will provide successful candidates with the resources and unparalleled artist support to present on a national stage, without creative compromise.

While Next Wave x is a national project, three of the seven co-commissions will be developed with Victorian organisations:

Next Wave x Dancehouse will support the creation of a new dance work in a non-traditional space in the City of Yarra (outdoor or indoor).

Next Wave x Liquid Architecture will offer a rare curatorial opportunity at one of Melbourne's most iconic live music venues, The Tote. The selected curator will develop a day-long experimental take-over party inhabiting all corners of this significant venue with artists and musicians, which will be presented as part of Liquid Architecture's Polyphonic Social program.

Next Wave x West Space will support an emerging curator to be mentored by West Space's Director, Patrice Sharkey, in the development of a new curatorial project in public or non-traditional spaces within Melbourne's CBD.

Interstate opportunities, open to all Australian artists, include partnerships with ACE Open (SA), Metro Arts (QLD), Pica (WA) and Vitalstatistix (SA).

Expressions of interest close on Monday 7 August.
