Applications are now open for the City of Melbourne's annual arts grants program, which offers grants of up to $20,000 for local arts projects and residencies.

Arts grants are available across all disciplines – including performance, new media music, dance, theatre and visual art — in the category of Arts Grants, Aboriginal Arts Projects and Residencies.

In addition to merit and feasibility, applications for Arts Grants and Aboriginal Arts Projects grants will be assessed based on their alignment with Council priorities, which are:

  • To encourage diversity in the arts
  • To increase access to and participation in the arts
  • Use of sustainable practices in the creation or delivery of work

The City of Melbourne Arts Residencies program gives individual artists, arts organisations, collaborations and partnerships the opportunity to apply for support to advance their practice.

Arts residency opportunities available in 2018 include:

  • Creative Spaces: Boyd Studio-1
  • Creative Spaces: Boyd Garret (writing residency)
  • Creative Spaces: Guild
  • Art and Heritage Collection

City of Melbourne grants and residencies are open to artists across Australia – but the outcome must be activated within the City of Melbourne municipality.

Multiple information sessions will take place over the coming weeks. Full details here.
