Ballarat will join Melbourne to become the second Victorian city to host a White Night when the all-night extravaganza returns for 2017.

With White Night Melbourne confirmed for Saturday 18 February, White Night Ballarat will take place the following month, on Saturday 4 March.

A new Artistic Director and Executive Producer has also been announced for both the Melbourne and Ballarat events. The appointment of David Atkins OAM follows four highly successful White Night Melbourne events under the leadership of Andrew Walsh AM.

Atkins has an extensive history as a creative producer across the arts and sporting sectors. He was the Artistic Director and Producer of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies. A multiple Emmy Award-winner, David also received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the inaugural Australian Event Awards in 2014.

Like the Melbourne event, White Night Ballarat will run across a 12 hour period, showcasing the city in unexpected and creative ways.

This year's event saw more than half a million people drawn to the centre of Melbourne to be part of White Night 2016.
