Australia's Good Design Awards were held in Sydney last week with Victorian design practice Cobalt Niche taking out two awards: the 2016 Design Institute of Australia (DIA) Award and an Australian Design Award.

The 2016 DIA Award recognises Cobalt Niche as a model design practice that has made a significant contribution to the Australian design community and embodies the ethos of the design institute.

Cobalt Niche also received an Australian Design Award for its Concave 2016 football boot range, redefining its world-first and patented technology to boost kicking performance.

The practice is widely regarded for its commitment to Australian design, creating a range of well-known products and services that cater to the local market, including the E-Class tram, the Keep Cup, and H2POD portable tree-watering tanks.

Cobalt Niche also received the 2015 (Victorian) Premier's Design Award for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre Food Justice Truck, a mobile fresh food market providing discounted fruit and vegetable to Victorian asylum seekers.

The Good Design Awards have been recognising outstanding design, innovation and creativity since 1958. The awards celebrate both Australian and international design.
