Melbourne's Triple R is celebrating a significant milestone this year with the free exhibition 'ON AIR: 40 years of 3RRR' at the State Library of Victoria.

Born in 1976, the iconic community radio station played punk rock when no one else would and has grown to become a mouthpiece for Melbourne music, arts and culture.

The exhibition explores the history, culture and character of Australia's largest and most successful community radio station.

Opening late this weekend as part of Melbourne Music Week, the exhibition will be open throughout summer.

Opening weekend hours

Friday 18 November: 10am to midnight

Saturday 19 November: 10am to midnight

Sunday 20 November: 10am to 5pm

Normal hours

Open daily, 10am to 5pm; open until 9pm on Thursdays.
