10 November 2016

Melbourne has secured  two of Australia's principal screen industry conferences for the next three years, strengthening  Victoria's position as the creative state.

Screen Forever 2016 and the Australian International Documentary Conference 2017 to be held in Melbourne.

Screen Forever 2016 and the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) 2017 will be held in Melbourne.

Renewed funding for the Screen Forever conference will see the event remain in Melbourne until 2019, while the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC) will be held in Melbourne through to 2020.

Attracting industry practitioners from Australia and around the world, these events will provide opportunities for local producers, filmmakers and industry professionals to make valuable international connections.

This announcement comes on the back of a strong year for the local screen industry, which saw 67 projects supported through Film Victoria contributing $173 million in production expenditure and over 8,000 jobs to the Victorian economy.

Screen Forever is one of the largest screen industry conferences in the Southern Hemisphere. It is a major annual forum for producers, writers, directors and financers who create screen content for the domestic and international market. Screen Forever 2016 commences next week, running 15 to 17 November 2016.

AIDC is Australia's foremost event for documentary, factual and unscripted screen content. AIDC 2017 will be held in March at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI).
