The Regional Development program provides Victorian regional communities with access to a wide variety of quality arts experiences. It supports Victoria's network of regional art galleries and performing arts centres, as well as professional touring activity across the State.
The program has two funding categories:
Regional Partnerships- support for regional art galleries and performing arts centres, provided through multi-year agreements with local government authorities that own and operate most of the facilities.
Touring Victoria- support for touring a professional production, performance, exhibition or program to regional and outer-metropolitan Victoria.
To further encourage regional arts activity, Creative Victoria also runs a number of schemes to mitigate risk for presenters across both performing and visual arts:
Indemnification Scheme - provides Government-backed insurance for temporary exhibitions at Victorian public galleries and museums. Participating institutions will have undergone a satisfactory risk management and site accreditation assessment.
Guarantee Against Loss (GAL)
- GAL1 - administered by Regional Arts Victoria (RAV) to support single presentations of professional inbound shows by volunteer presenters that are RAV members.
- GAL2 - provides support against unforeseen box office loss for presenters of itinerised tours. Presenters must be members of the Victorian Association of Performing Arts Centres (VAPAC) or be registered by Regional Arts Victoria's Presenters Network. Eligible presenters access the scheme through the GAL2 website .
