The Regional Development program provides Victorian regional communities with access to a wide variety of quality arts experiences. It supports Victoria's network of regional art galleries and performing arts centres, as well as professional touring activity across the State.
The program has three funding categories:
Regional Partnerships - support for regional art galleries and performing arts centres, provided through multi-year agreements with local government authorities that own and operate most of the facilities.
Small Regional Presenters – support for regional communities to program and present shows
Touring Victoria - support for touring a professional production, performance, exhibition or program to regional and outer-metropolitan Victoria.
To further encourage regional arts activity, Creative Victoria also runs the Indemnification Scheme to mitigate risk for presenters of visual arts exhibitions.
Indemnification Scheme - provides Government-backed insurance for temporary exhibitions at Victorian public galleries and museums. Participating institutions will have undergone a satisfactory risk management and site accreditation assessment.
Note: The Regional Development and Touring program has previously included the Guarantee Against Loss (GAL) program which provided support to regional presenters to cover unforeseen box office loss. Following a review of the program, and the introduction of the Small Regional Presenters program, the GAL program finishes on 31 December 2016.
