VicArts Grants - latest recipients announced

Date: 27 June 2014

Minister for the Arts Heidi Victoria today announced the latest round of arts grants which will inject almost $1.5 million into Victoria’s arts sector and create opportunities for emerging and established artists.

Ms Victoria said the funding, through the VicArts Grants program, would support 106 projects by some of the state’s most dynamic artists and arts organisations.

"Victoria’s reputation as the nation’s arts and cultural capital is founded on both the great diversity and dynamism of our local artists and arts organisations, and the public’s enormous appetite for their work," Ms Victoria said.

"The Victorian Coalition Government is proud to support the development of our artists and to secure and build the sustainability of the arts sector right across the state."

A number of projects will engage new audiences. The range of supported projects includes festivals and exhibitions, music recordings and tours, murals, theatre and dance performances. In support of Melbourne’s City of Literature status, the mix also includes literature projects, with a high proportion having a strong focus on works for young adults.

The VicArts Grants program invests in the creative endeavours and professional practice of Victoria’s artists and smaller arts companies. It provides one-off support for artists at all career stages and for projects across all artforms.

‘’This round of grants will not only support artists and provide a wealth of opportunities for audiences, it will build on Victoria’s position as a leader in Australia’s creative arts sector," Ms Victoria said.

The next round of applications to the VicArts Grants program will close on 30 July 2014 for projects commencing 1 December 2014. Find out more
